Umbergaon Beach, Valsad

Umbergaon is a census town in Valsad district in the Indian state of Gujarat.
In 2012, the Government of Gujarat, announced that tourism-related infrastructure will be developed at Umbergaon, and other towns.
An irrigation canal from Ambaji to Umbergaon at a cost of ₹500crore has also been proposed by the State Government.
Umbergaon is also known as Umergam , Umargaon or Umargam.
Some 20% of the population are fishermen and 20% industrialists. It is 33 km away from Vapi.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census, Umbergaon had a population of 1,21,648. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Umbergaon has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 62%. In Umbergaon, 14% of the population is under six years of age. The people speak different languages including Gujarati the official state language and [[Gujarati language|Gujarati] also use Marathi by many people]. People from different states of India like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, including Gujarat live in peace & harmony here.

Neighbouring areas

Umbergaon has a western coastline with the Arabian sea. To the east it is bordered by the union territory of Silvassa. Northern portion has borders with the union territory of Daman. To the south and south east it has a border with the Palghar district (Tehsil of Talasari) in the State of Maharashtra. To the north west it touches Vapi in Gujarat State.

Industry

The Harish Gandhi Group was the first company to set up a factory in Umbergaon in the 1966. Thereon, many other industries have come in .Chandan Steel Limited and Rajendra Industrial Corporation are manufacturer’s of forged components. Umbergaon is home to many Spices industries that include two top spices brand of the country i.e. Badshah Masala & Everest Masala and other top industries like Plastic industries i.e KUSUM PACKAGING and R P PLASTOMER PVT LTD. Indigo Metalloys (P) Ltd is a leading manufacturer of Copper, Brass & Cupro Nickel Pipes, Springs and Tubes. Prakash Steelage Limited is manufacturer of stainless steel pipes and tubes. There are many other factories and textile mills in Umbergaon. Abhishri Packing pvt. Ltd. this industry made Luggage of Samsonite or American Tourister. Umargaon has so many other industries Like Hindustan Pencils, R.R. Pencils, Mahavir Tube Industries , and one of the India biggest cable industries i.e. Apar Industries Ltd, (A corporate Group engaged in manufacturing of Cables, Conductor and Oil and many more. Providing work to local people and people in neighbor hood area.
